    Asbestos & Building Renovations

In the State of Washington, building owners are tasked with performing a Good Faith Inspection for asbestos prior to beginning any y construction, renovation, remodeling, maintenance, repair, or demolition project.

The location of the project will determine the full scope of your responsibilities as building owners must comply not just with WISHA requirements from DOSH but also with any Clean Air Agencies that have oversight.

    AHERA Asbestos Inspectors

A Good Faith Inspection for asbestos must be conducted by an accredited AHERA building inspector on the materials that could be disturbed by the project to determine if they contain asbestos.

The accredited AHERA building inspector conducting a good faith inspection knows how to choose the right materials and locations to sample to make sure they identify any asbestos, and will provide a report identifying any asbestos that was found.

    Accrediation Certificate available on request.

    Pre-Purchase

If you are an investor seeking to purchase commercial property in Washington State, a pre-purchase Good Faith Inspection for asbestos is recommended even if you do not currently intend to perform major renovations, repairs, or demolition.

A pre-purchase Asbestos Inspection will provide you a list of suspect materials that will need future testing so that you can maintain reserves for that contingency. Samples are not normally taken unless both the current and prospective building owners agree to destructive testing.
